Tropical Boho Chic Wedding in Kauai

This tropical boho chic wedding in Kauai is a highlight of my wedding planning career. It was challenging at the beginning of our planning, but it turned out to be so beautiful and stress-free at the end that it made me realize it was all worth it. It is always worth it!

It's 2022. It's been almost two years since we no longer have to follow the strict Covid19 travel restrictions. Hawaii islands were slightly behind that timeframe for understandable reasons. The islands needed protection from everything that comes with local and international travel. It significantly affected the Hawaii wedding industry and complicated wedding planning for couples.

Many Hawaii venues were closed, understaffed, or out of business a year ago. Nicole and Alex reached out to me for help as it seemed impossible to find a wedding venue in Kauai to hold a reception for their small 40-people group. The couple has already booked the Kauai Elopements team to plan their beach ceremony. Unfortunately, there were no options available where they could gather the guests afterward for a celebration.

We spent about two months looking and searching among the limited available spaces on the island. The couple wanted a tropical boho chic wedding style and those venues that would work were either booked or uncertain if they would be operating in 2022. Some were still closed and could not answer any of our questions. My couple's wedding date seemed very popular, significantly reducing our options.

Despite the challenge, we connected with Kaye Vea, an Event Coordinator at Princeville Kauai Golf Club. This golf club is proudly known as one of the "Top 5 Most Scenic Golf Course Setting in the World" by National Geographic Traveler Magazine. With the most beautiful bluff wedding site in Hawaii, we've found what we searched for!

Since this was a small gathering, the Makai Grill Lanai area was the perfect location. It provided an outdoor covered area with access to the breathtaking views of the golf course. We were lucky to grab catering services from Contemporary Flavors Catering. Stop by Mark's Place in Lihue if you've never tried it. You won't regret it!

After planning and booking the reception venue, the catering service, and the entertainment, we moved on to the fun part, wedding decor and design! Nicole had a beautiful vision and was into a tropical boho chic style. We discussed her floor plan, linen selections, and florals and decided to go with an earthy palette with natural beige, blush, and green shades. To add that boho feel, we picked rustic pampas-filled arrangements, jute-adorned pillar candles, and bamboo plates. To add the tropical feel, we had some blush table runners and greenery elements in glassware and florals. Overall, this tropical boho chic wedding design ended up looking stunning, and I am happy to share it with you.
